Winterberry smiled. "That's neat. What kind of music do you play?" She asked the unicorn, tossing her pink and purple mane.

"Mainly classical and instrumental music." She said smiling. "I play the harp."

Winterber nodded. "Wow." She said. She looked at Cold. He didn't seem very talkative. She turned to the unicorn. "So, do you have very many friends in Xanadia?" She asked her.

Cold was standing slightly away from the two, hoping that they wouldn't ask him too many questions.
He was looking the other way, his hair blowing slightly in the wind as he thought about whether he would ever have a normal life again. He sighed, but quietly, so that the other two couldn't hear him.

((soo tired...))
"No." MeadowGreen said quietly shaking her head. She found it a bit of an odd question, then again she never really spoke to many ponies anyway. "Not pony friends anyway... but it does not trouble me too much. I have other friends in other places of the world..."
She glanced at the stallion for a moment, and although she did not hear him sigh, she could sense a sadness floating around him like a mist. The unicorn moved a little closer to him, her golden eyes locking into his.
"Is there anything wrong Cold?" She asked him softly.

Winterberry listened to Meadowgreen. "Oh, well, we can be friends, can't we?" She asked the green unicorn.
She looked at Cold. She noticed he was feeling sad. "Is everything alright, Cold?" She asked him as she stood beside him.

Cold looked from Meadow Green to Winterberry.
'No! No, I'm fine. Thankyou." He lied, his ears back against his head.

"Sure." MeadowGreen smiled, replying to Winterberry's question. "I don't see why we cannot."
The unicorn shook her head, she obviously did not believe Cold. "You don't appaer to be fine... if you would prefer, we can lay off the subject... if you understand what I mean..."

The white mare smiled in reply to the Meadowgreen's response.
She then turned to Cold. "Are you sure about that? You look worried. And I don't like to see anyone with worried looks on their faces." She said, wondering what Cold was thinking right now.

(Cont. from Shadow Star's Home)
Shadow Star walked the street, his brow furrowed and his eyes gazing somewhere far away. The black, white-striped squirrel was cuddled on his back, her tail wrapped around her, and her eyes closed. She might have kept them open, had she known that Shadow Star's thoughts were still dwelling on his dilemma too much for him to be really looking where he was going.
He didn't see the other stallion standing on the street. He didn't see the mares, either. He might have simply walked past, had it not been for the absent-minded gaze back towards his home, with the thought that perhaps he should have stayed after all, to study the parchments some more. Because of this, he didn't notice walking right at the stallion.
Shadow Star bumped on Cold's side, and lost his balance for the surprise. He stumbled for a moment and then looked up, a surprised look on his face.
"Oh, terribly sorry," he said to the other stallion. "Were you hurt?"
He grimaced inwardly at the recollection of a nasty accident which had involved his horn and a sack of potatoes - luckily no one had got hurt that time.

Winterberry gasped as the other stallion bumped into Cold. "Cold, are you alright?" The white mare asked him.
She looked at Shadow Star. "Weren't you looking where you were going?" She asked, concerned.

Shadow Star glanced at the mare and looked very uncomfortable.
"Ah, well, you see, it happens to me every now and again," he said. "I forget what I am doing and... you see, I discovered something most interesting this morning, and have been working all day with this poem which simply won't add up. You know, it is terribly fascinating how they used to copy things back a few centuries ago. I..."
The squirrel on his back leaped up on top of his head and squinted down at him with an annoyed expression, chirping into his ear huffily. Shadow Star was a little startled and looked embarrassed.
"Oh, quite right, Streaks," he said, and then turned to the other ponies. "I do apologise for rambling on. My studies sometimes absorb me entirely." He looked at the other stallion. "Do accept my sincerest apologies for my clumsiness, my friend. May I offer you a dinner as a compensation? I was presently on my way to have something to eat."

Cold was about to reply to the mares, but another stallion bumped into him. He flattened his ears, and retreated from him. At the mention of dinner, Cold began to stutter.
"D-dinner? N-no, I don't want-" He fell silent. He seemed worried for some reason.
He lifted his head and looked at each of the ponies in front of him, before muttering "I've got to go." and galloping away.

Shadow Star stared after the stallion, a little startled by his abrupt departure.
"Oh, my," he murmured. "I do hope I didn't insult him."
But he was a little alarmed at the worried look on the other stallion's face. He wondered if there was something going on in Xanadia that he didn't know about. Perhaps there was danger afoot. His first instict was to follow the stallion, to find out what was going on, but then he thought it would be most improper. And besides, he was more of the scholarly type than anything else. He doubted he would be much use if there was danger.
The squirrel chirped into his ear again. He sighed in his mind. Yes, the accident with the sack of potatoes had proven that his horn could indeed inflict damage, but it had all been an accident. Being able to slay a potato could hardly be considered a battle skill.
"Ah, well," he said and turned politely to the mares. "I am sorry to have frightened your escort away like that. Allow me to introduce myself: I am Shadow Star. Perhaps you would grant me the honour of taking you to dinner, as a compensation for intruding upon your conversation like this?"

Winterberry watched as Cold ran off. She had a little worried look in her face. She didn't like to see ponies upset or worried like Cold seemed to be. She sighed.
The white mare turned to Shadow Star. "It is nice to meet you. May I call you Shadow?" She said with a little giggle. "My name is Winterberry. And, I am sort of hungry. I would love to come with you to dinner." She said with a smile, trying to cover her cheeks which were turning light pink.
