The purple trees swung in an invisible rhythm and birds swooped through the air as if they were dancing. Out of the shadows of the canopy appeared a pretty white mare. She was only trotted along innocently, but even so she looked like she was dancing. The way her body seemed to move was almost entrancing. She tossed her hair and her eyes sparkled brightly as she pranced in and out of the trees.
There was something extremely wild about this pony - But not quite in a bad way. Nothing and nobody could tame this mare. Not Nightdancer. Not ever.

"Nightdancer! Nightdancer!"
Hoofbeats accompanied the call and through the bushes appeared a tan body of a young colt of a pony, dark red hair tossing this way and that. Jingles galloped to catch the white pony, bounding on moss agilely if still a little clumsily. Jingles was growing, certainly in many ways already a grown pony, but he still had some trouble keeping all his legs in the correct order. Thus he missed a tree root, his foot caught in it, and with a yelp he tussled onto his face in the moss.
"Ouch!"
Certainly as much as the white mare was graceful and beautiful, the tan colt was a little clumsy and overly eager.

Nighterdancer spared a glance behind her to see who was calling her name. She spotted her brother and a smile played across her lips as the young stallion lost his footing. She laughed, a high tinkling laugh that danced along with the rest of her body. The mare turned back and when she reached her brother she pranced about him playfully.
"Sometimes you're such a fool, Jingles." She said as she moved closer to him. "I'm afraid you missed out on inheriting father's gracefulness." She nudged his shoulder blade.

Jingles looked up from the ground. He smiled with a bit of hopeless expression, trying to stagger up. He managed to get all his feet under him, and looked at his sister with a smile. He had grown big and strong and fast - and yet, it seemed to him, no matter how fast he might yet become, he could never quite catch her. She could always dance away. He sighed in his mind.
"Well, there's a lot of things I haven't inherited from him," he grumbled quietly, shaking off the brambles from his feet and then shaking his mane and tail to make sure they were clear. He glanced at Nightdancer from under his brows. She didn't know they didn't share a father. There was a lot of things she didn't know - or hadn't realised, perhaps. He wasn't sure which. Or perhaps she didn't care, that their parents weren't as much an adoring couple as Jingles would have liked them to be. But he didn't want to go there. "But you have." He smiled to her affectionately. "And then some. Sometimes I could swear you can fly."

"Sometimes I could swear you can fly."
Nightdancer tossed her horned head and shook out her hair. "I do fly." Said the unicorn stubbornly.

[[hehe 'sokay. And no, I haven't forgotten, just been busy. Guh for uni. lol]]
Jingles smiled, looking at Nightdancer.
"I won't start arguing with that," he said just a bit dreamily. Then he shook his head. Oh no, here he went again. What was the matter with him? This was his sister, for crying out loud! He tried to look away and scraped her hoof against the moss a little. "So, where you wanna go? I hear there's a town here somewhere. Should we go see it?"

[The computer died again, sorry. This is getting ridiculous...]
Nightdancer looked about through the trees, but they were deep in the forest, and she saw no sign of the town. "Which way-" She began, but she paused. The leaves rustled behind them. Nightdancer began to back away as her ears pressed back against her neck. Before she could flee, a white bird came shooting out of the canopy.
Nightdancer gasped as she saw it, but the bird was gone almost as quickly as it came, diving into the trees on the other side of the clearing. Nightdancer sighed in relief.
"Just a bird." she muttered, however, at that moment a silver-grey stallion leapt out of the trees from where the bird had come from. His hooves hit the ground powerfully and he sprang up again, and it was then that he realised he was not alone. He let out a yell as he tumbled straight into Jingles with a crash.

[[Haha you so need a new computer! >.< lol *huggle*]]
Jingles pricked his ears when Nightdancer paused and started backing away. He took a few steps toward her, his first instinct to protect her, but he, too, was startled by the white bird. He jumped back again, and stared after the bird. When the silver-grey stallion suddenly emerged from the trees, however, he let out a yelp as he noticed him only a split-second before the stallion landed on him.
Jingles was not born yesterday, however, and he had been taught well. In a moment after the collision he rolled aside, to avoid being crushed under the stallion, and up on his feet again, and then leapt into defensive position in between the new stallion and Nightdancer. His ears pressed against his skull and his eyes blazing with hostility he pointed his horn at the stallion.
As he could not think of an appropriate threat to utter, he pawed the ground with his hoof instead.

Cold lifted himself off of the ground wearily and shook his head. He opened his eyes and froze when he realized that Jingles had his horn pointed at him.
Cold hunched his shoulders and did the same, snorting powerfully as he stood his ground against the stallion.
Nightdancer stared silently at the silver stallion from where she stood behind Jingles, but Cold's eyes were firmly locked onto Jingles'.

Jingles kept his stance and pawed the ground some more, though when the silver stallion hunched his shoulders as well. Oh-oh. He didn't REALLY want to fight... though he would, if it was inevitable.
"Who are you?" he asked, trying to sound really big and strong - which he really wasn't, at least not one of the biggest and strongest stallions in the world. But he had to make an effort.

Cold kept his stance. A slight breeze blew through his hair. He answered only:
"That is of no significance to you."

Jingles squinted his eyes.
"Well, whoever you are, stay away from my sister... or I'll... I'll... run you through!"
He hoped to Rainbows Cold wouldn't take him up on that.
