The reddish-pink mare was walking along a sidewalk of a street in Xanadia. She looked around her, tossing her neon-yellow mane when she turned her head.
She looked at the ground with a sigh. She had felt lonely in the past few years. No one ever talked to her, really. Shady had always been...different than the others. She noticed that hardly anyone was about on the streets. Shady sighed again. She wished she had someone to talk to....
Coconut Cream came skidding around a street corner, moving too fast for her mind to stay coordinated with. As usual.
She kept her somewhat halting pace going as she made sure to keep her balance, and was about to walk on by the brightly-colored mare who was, in contrast, looking particularly depressed.
However, as she started by, she heard a soft sigh, and looked over her shoulder. Walking backwards to not risk turning around and stumbling, she came back to be face-to-face with the pink mare, and asked casually, "Something wrong?"
She didn't want to seem nosey, but there was never any harm in friendly conversation. And this mare seemed particularly down-in-the-dumps.
The reddish-pink mare looked up. "Oh, I'm sorry! I was just....thinking." She replied. She had seen the other mare before, but didn't really know her that well. She wondered why she had approached Shady in the first place. Was she feeling sorry for her? No, that couldn't be it, could it? Did someone actually care for Shady? The mare wondered if this other pony had actually approached her because she was worried about her...
The neon-yellow haired pony looked at the other mare, waiting for her response.
Cream nodded and smiled at the other mare. "Oh yeah, it's a pretty nice place, isn't it? I like being here and everything, really...um...peaceful, ya know? Oh, but wait...you looked kind of upset, I think, so that wouldn't've been what you were thinking about Xanadia, huh? So what were you thinking about? Or were you thinking good stuff about Xanadia but about something else too? Oh - or maybe you were thinking good stuff about Xanadia but bad stuff about someone in Xanadia, or something that's not a someone in Xanadia, and then you thought it counted as being Xanadia too since it was in Xanadia?"
The mare wasn't even quite sure what point she was trying to make anymore, but wanted to get to the bottom of whatever was going on.
The mare watched the other pony babble. Shady didn't know this pony was a babbler. She started to get a little......annoyed by her...
Shady felt pleased when the other mare had finally stopped. "Well. I.....was just thinking about the town....that's all. And the streets kinda seemed empty, so I was wondering where everyone was..." She replied.
"Hard to say", Cream said, glancing around briefly. "But I'm here, so the streets aren't empty!"
Already having decided to befriend the mare in an attempt to cheer up, she didn't even notice that Shady was more uncomfortable than depressed now anyway. "I'm Coconut Cream, by the way. And you are?" Tacking yet another question onto the end, she added, "Where were you headed?"
"Nowhere, really. Just taking a walk - it's nice to look at the sights." Really, she'd been taking longer and longer walks more and more frequently, and was getting better at not tripping much at all.
"So...where do you like to go on your walks?" Cream herself hadn't gotten much company since she'd come to live here a fair time back, and was hoping to get invited to go along on a walk. Well, she'd already basically invited herself, but if she'd known that she probably would have tried to be more polite about that.
The neon-yellow haired pony listened to what the other said. "Yes, it is nice to look at the sights. Everything is so..........purple."
She smiled. "Well, I basically just go wherever. Sometimes I just take a walk down the sidewalk just to get some fresh air, then I usually go back home.." She replied. She remembered one time when she was in the forest, she had met a very strange alicorn....
"Course, sometimes I like to visit the forest. It's so beautiful." She then said.
The mare shook her head. "No, I wasn't really heading anywhere, actually." She replied. "But, now that you mention it, do you want to go to the forest?" The forest had always cheered up Shady. And Shady was still kinda...not happy. But she wasn't completely sad. She just needed some cheering up. And the forest had always done so.
