Smiling, he watching the pegasus fly around him. However when he realised that his companion was shrinking, the stallion started a bit.
"I'd rather talk to you too." He admitted slowly, fascinated by the mini Echo. How in the world did she do that? It must be the magic that's in her or something... I haven't seen anything quite like it...
"How... how did you do that?" NeonCoablt asked. "Yano, shrink like that."

She giggled, landing on top of his head, right in between his ears.
"It's one of my many talents," she said softly, nuzzling his ear fondly.

The stallion chuckled at the light touch of the tiny muzzle against his ear. He found it odd, because he usually did not like ponies getting too close to him, or even touching him, without his permission, but of course there were exceptions. He felt comfortable with her company, so thus she was now an exception.
"One of your many talents huh?" He said with a grin, trying to look up at the other. "A beautiful, mysterious voice, the ability to shrink... what other talent could you possibly have? If that is alright of me to ask."

She giggled softly.
"You seem like a nice stallion," she said gently. "I can show you."
And she concentrated, closing her eyes. She raised her voice, beginning a soft and low hum. At first it only echoed as it had before, but then she poured her magic into it more and more, until the hum caught a stronger echo, and gathered more volume, until it was so loud that it might have been a swarm of bees around his ears. There she stopped, letting the echos of the hum fade quietly into the night.
"I can do the same to any sound, or any voice," she said as she took off on her wings again and began to circle his horn in a playful manner, like a little fairy.

NeonCobalt's ears twitched as he listened carefully to the echo of her voice, how she strengthened and weakened it. It made him wonder how she did it with her magic...
"I can do the same to any sound, or any voice,"
"Really?" The stallions said, his visible eye following her path as she fluttered around his horn. "Are you saying that you could make my voice echo like yours does?"

Echo fluttered lower, in front of his muzzle, so they could look at each other eye to eye.
"Certainly," she said. Then she tilted her head and looked thoughtful. "I could probably make your voice carry through the entire forest, echo like a thousand voices, since you have a rather deep voice." She giggled and her voice jingled around him like tiny little bells. "I have sometimes been a little mean, I must admit, playing with my powers. There is still one pony walking around somewhere thinking he has heard the voice of God."
She looked very guilty now and turned sad, staring somewhere down and pulling her other foreleg up, looking embarrassed.
"I do regret that little joke. I didn't really mean to leave him like that, but then he just disappeared, and I haven't been able to find him again, to explain the truth to him."

The stallion's orange eye was fixed on Echo, watching her intently.
"You should keep looking for him... You should apologise and tell him the truth." He said to her. "Then again, the truth always reveals itself in the end. It just would be better off if it's you who points it out to him." The stallion sighed, smiling at her little form.
"Anyway, that's one nifty ability you got there. I don't think I've ever come across one with anything like it.”

"I have tried looking for him," she said with a sigh. "Well, perhaps I'll find him yet."
She smiled again and hovered around his horn a few more times, letting a beautiful hum sprout from her lips. Then she landed on his head again and settled down there, to lie among his hair, leaning her head affectionately against his ear.
"I do like you, NeonCobalt," she said softly. "I think I'll stay with you awhile."

The feeling of the little head against his ear was strange, but comforting. Maybe it had been too long since he had last been in company with other ponies... his own kind...
"...I like you too Echo." He said back to her sincerely. "You are wonderful company..." Far better company than a little bird... the stallion thought to himself with a small smile.

Echo felt happy and warm.
"Then," she said, "we might walk together awhile. Are you going to the city or shall we camp here for the night?"
She fluttered her wings and then began to hum softly, to soothe his mind and fill up the little square with her love that embraced all living creatures, as she waited for his reply.

It took the stallion some time to answer the pegasus' question. He found her pleasant humming a delightful distraction from the world and the problems that came with it, the content happy feeling glowing within him.
"...Well honestly," NeonCobalt began. "I'd rather stay here in the forest than go to the city. The forest has more freedom and space... But of course, you have a choice also."

Echo smiled. She liked the forest as well and felt not yet ready or willing to go back to the city.
"I will stay with you," she said. "I hope you know how to make a fire. I do so enjoy a campfire at night."
She stood and flew off from the top of his head, and returned to her normal size.
"I shall go find some twigs," she said, and then went off among the trees, humming happily. She truly liked the stallion and hoped he would not run away anywhere while she was out looking for firewood.

"Me? Make a fire? Heh, I hope I know how to too," he said with a light chuckle. "But I'll give it a shot though."
He nodded and watched the pegasus head off to hunt for twigs. He smiled to himself; yes, he did like her company and was already strangely fond of her. Echo was a unique pony, not the sort he usually came by every day. Yet, the thought of her saddened him somehow. NeonCobalt reached up and touched his ear where she had placed her head.
I... shouldn't get too attached to her, or really allow her to get attached to me, he thought to himself, putting down his hoof and looking at his reflection. But... she is good company. She isn't the pressuring sort and likes the outdoors. I also find I can relax easily with her around instead of when I'm alone... but...
Sighing and not too keen on thinking any further on the situation, he set out to look for some good sized stones near the pond that would help with making their fire.
((oh dear. I can't remember very much else I had planned for this guy. I didn't write any of it down... eh, I hope I'll be able to remember it all eventually.))

[[ohhh yeah it's been awhile, I don't remember all of my plans either. I'm sure the main points will come back to us though.]]
Echo's humming echoed around the forest, bouncing and bounding on moss and trees, and it could be heard back to the stallion as a faint sound, like distant rippling of a brook. She was again singing an ancient song, in words unknown to most ponies. She made good time in gathering the firewood, however, and soon enough was on her way back to the camp. She was rather worried if the stallion would still be there... he had seemed like the elusive type. Not that she minded elusive type, but she rather liked him, and would like to know him better.
When she returned, she was overjoyed at noticing that he was indeed still there. She smiled happily and fluttered down to the ground, her arms filled with twigs and other burning material.
"These should be enough to get us started," she said. Then she looked round. "How do you feel about shelter?" She looked at him with a glimmer of laughter in her eye, and her tone became lightly teasing. "Or are you a rugged ol' stallion who needs no shelter to keep him warm?"

Hmm... that one doesn't look too bad... it should go well with this other one... He examined the rock before picking it up. It had a good surface, especially for starting fires. Or so he hoped anyway.
At hearing her approach, the unicorn had by now forgotten what had been troubling him and gave her a warm welcome-back smile, showing that he was clearly pleased that she had returned.
He grinned at what she said, noticing the playfulness in her tone. "Nah. I don't require a shelter. Stallions don't need shelters because we are oh-so manly and tough." He said with a rather playful and not very serious voice; it was as though he sort of doubted the idea of the connection between masculinity and shelters. Not that it made sense really. "Besides, I prefer to be able to see the stars and whatnot. It feels nice, and there is more freedom I recon." He added in his more usual tone. "Would you require a shelter though?"
He took some of the twigs and burning matterials that she had brought as he asked, and placed them in front him before he started striking the stones together in a sense that if any sparks were produced, they'd come in contact with the dry, good for burning stuff.
